Welcome to PennyFix!
Our Vision:
We envision a world where no cat or dog suffers due to overpopulation. Through innovative funding and community support, we aim to eliminate stray animal crises and shelter overcrowding, one grant at a time.
Our Mission:
PennyFix provides funding for free spay and neuter services to make these lifesaving procedures accessible to every pet owner, shelter, and community in the United States.
How It All Began
PennyFix started with a spark of inspiration:
What if the pet food industry added just one cent to each can of dog and cat food sold, and we could use that penny to fund spay and neuter services?
This grassroots idea captured the hearts of our founders, who saw the potential to transform communities and save countless animals.
While our funding currently relies on donations, the spirit of that original vision remains.
We haven’t given up on the idea that sparked it all.
PennyFix continues to advocate for pet food companies to adopt the penny-per-can initiative, which could revolutionize how spay and neuter services are funded nationwide.
With the support of compassionate pet lovers and advocates like you, we’re keeping the conversation alive and urging industry leaders to step up for pets and communities.

Why Choose PennyFix?
Overpopulation is the problem
At PennyFix, we believe the best way to address pet overpopulation is to stop it before it starts.
Spaying and neutering is a proven, humane solution to this problem. This proactive approach also reduces behavioral problems like aggression, roaming, and marking, while promoting better health for pets by decreasing the risk of cancers and other diseases.
By preventing fights over mates, spaying and neutering even curtails the spread of diseases passed through bites and scratches.
Every unplanned litter adds to the growing number of stray and abandoned animals, which overwhelms shelters, strains local resources, and often leads to heartbreaking outcomes like euthanasia.
Animal shelters do incredible, compassionate work. Every day, they provide safety, medical care, and second chances to animals who might otherwise have nowhere to turn. But the truth is, they’re stretched far too thin. Many shelters face overcrowding, limited funding, and the emotional toll of trying to meet an overwhelming need.
We Want to Stop It Before It Starts
For communities, the impact is profound. Fewer strays mean fewer disruptions like overturned trash bins, damaged gardens, or the heartbreaking sight of animals hit by cars. Lower stray populations even reduce the risk of rabies transmission from wild animals.
By addressing overpopulation at its root, PennyFix creates safer, healthier neighborhoods for both pets and people.

“Snow was a stray in a rural area wandering from farm to farm for a few weeks, sleeping in barns or garages. She is now in a foster home and loving the TLC. Snow is great with all dogs and people, loves little dogs, but no cats. Thanks to PennyFix, Snow is now spayed and ready for her furever home. ”
